It's here, my saviour~!

My aid package that is...hehe

Apparently, it arrived last week but I didn't get the note to collect my parcel. Luckily I went and asked 'Goldilocks' to check today, if not, my poor package might still have been waiting for me at that miserable, little corner at the end of the week.

The box doesn't look impressive, but beauty lies in the eye of the beholder...

My essential survival kit when deadlines and exams are looming near...

My luxuries...

Erm...this is for...CNY...

Meet the Caffein Family~! From left, XO, Teh Tarik, Siew Dai, Kopi 'O'.

Last but not least, my entertainment. *sigh*

Ooh~~ first CNY abroad will be so much better with my aid package.

ITS OFFICIALLY WAR!!!!!!

YES, IT IS!!! (No, my capslock key did not just got stuck.)

I'm officially on a challenge to throw off the pounds I piled on for the past winter...

After being "kek-dio" by my cousin, who still happens to owe me a decent meal, I will definitely not let him have his way. I will defy all odds, even if the horoscopes favour him, I will survive! I can do it~!

" I will lose the pounds I piled on in UK before summer"

Mana tau...our friend Victor, also wanna come join in the challenge. So we made another pact.

"Whoever loses more weight by the end of February will be treated to St. Sushi's bento by the other person. *T&C apply"

*T&C: With a ratio of 1.0 : 1.5 (Yi Lin 1.0 : Victor 1.5)

So, for every 1kg that I lose, Victor would have to lose 1.5kg in order to be at a tie.

*****************************************************

It's not unfair ok...Cos guys have higher metabolism than girls all along. So they always, ALWAYS lose weight faster and more than girls. Though he's a JiMui lar...but still, physically his metabolism is still that of a male species'.

I can can CAN!!!

I must must MUST!!!

I will will WILL!!!

End of Semester 1

Yeap, finally it's over. Not only the first semester but also the first round of exams as well. Looking back, I've already been here for 4 months now. Not too long, not too short. It's been quarter of a year, and yet, it's like everything has just begun. Wow...I sound like I'm droning today...

Anyway, exams are over and the next big thing is actually waiting for the results. MY GOD...that's the part I hate most. It's so frustrating to wait for your results especially if they're very important and deterministic. I always had similar experiences before I get my results for important examinations. It's always the same thing, I get ridiculous dreams every now and then. Things that you know wouldn't happen in real life but they did in your dreams anyway. The whole thing is even more ludicrous thing is that I actually DID believe, or rather, convinced myself to believe it when I was dreaming.

But I don't wanna think about all that now. I just wanna get some sleep tonight and travel down to London tomorrow morning. HAHA~!~ Finally! There's so many things that I wanna do. I wanna go River Thames, go see Big Ben, London Eye, Madam Tussauds, Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Greenwich, Oxford Street, Buckingham Palace, etc etc etc...SO many things to do, SOOO little time!!!

But one thing's for sure, I will be damn broke when I get back. Haiy...what to do...in the name of travel..."Hway ka" lor...

Discovery

Just re-discovered some features of my phone, so had some fun with it. And since people complained that I'm starting to spam, I think it's only fair for me to spam my own space as well. Haha~!

Trying hard to look sinister for the camera...

Nice suit~!

But then...a unanimous vote to the best and most realistic picture is...

*Drum roll*

Subconjunctival Haemorrhage

"A subconjunctival haemorrhage is one cause of a red eye. It is caused by a small bleed behind the conjunctiva. It can look alarming, but it usually causes no symptoms and is usually harmless. The redness usually clears within two weeks."

That was what was stated in the handout that I was given when I went to NHS walk-in and my GP this past week. Yes, I am suffering from subconjunctival haemorrhage in my right eye. Now, half my right eye looks red where it should have been white. Both doctors told me that it's usually spontaneous and it's nothing to worry about...UNLESS...I get blurred vision and worsened bleeding. Other than that, it SHOULD be nothing to worry about. One even told me that I'm actually LUCKY, cos this shows how fragile our bodies are.

However, I still think that it is not at all possible not to worry and the whole episode doesn't spell "LUCKY" for me at all. Why?

Point 1: Nothing is spontaneous when there's bleeding, it's an indication that something is happening.

Point 2: It's MY eye.

Point 3: Can anyone feel lucky to wake up to one red eye for no reason at all?

Point 4: I hate the way they use "should" and "unless" cos it makes me feel even worse.

Point 5: Sometimes they say our body is strong, other times they say it's fragile. SO??!!?! Make up your minds. I would also prefer to learn about the fragility of my body in a less awful way.

Besides "lucky", I got another punch in the face by the same doctor. "I usually see this in older people." Yes, I get your drift. Maybe this is a way my body is telling me that I'm getting old as well.

*************************************

Another thing about the handout, maybe they can give some extra information on subconjunctival haemorrhage. Maybe something like this:

Disadvantages:

  • Weird stares
  • Weird questions
  • Unwanted attention
  • No cam-whoring (at least 2 weeks)
  • To avoid using contact lenses
  • Increased usage of glasses and sunglasses

Patients would have to tolerate disadvantages stated above for about 10 to 14 days. May also decrease confidence levels while increasing paranoia levels in some individuals. However, it may aid in comedic relief to see the different reactions of people noticing the bleeding.

THIS, would make the handout slightly more interesting.

So, until my full recovery, I can't, won't and definitely shan't take any pictures that would reveal and forever commemorate my red right eye.

Flooded

About the flood situation back home:

Most people I've spoken to told me that the city and towns are not seriously affected. It's more of the kampung or pekans that were in trouble (probably due to poor drainage systems, if there is any at all...)

My brother, who happened to be in one of these 'ulu' places at that time, sent me some pictures.

Now I know why he panicked and parked his car and belongings at higher grounds. Hehe...

But the situation is really bad there, and the whole town was cut off from the rest of the world for a while. Food was snapped up, there was no water or electricity and some forms of communication were down as well. In short, something like a scene from "The Day After Tomorrow".

Luckily things quickly turned for the better, at least for now...
