About the flood situation back home:
Most people I've spoken to told me that the city and towns are not seriously affected. It's more of the kampung or pekans that were in trouble (probably due to poor drainage systems, if there is any at all...)
My brother, who happened to be in one of these 'ulu' places at that time, sent me some pictures.
Now I know why he panicked and parked his car and belongings at higher grounds. Hehe... 
But the situation is really bad there, and the whole town was cut off from the rest of the world for a while. Food was snapped up, there was no water or electricity and some forms of communication were down as well. In short, something like a scene from "The Day After Tomorrow".
Luckily things quickly turned for the better, at least for now...
